The Single Day Righteous

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

– James 1:26 NKJV

I may be new to the Word of Christ, but nothing offends me more than those who call themselves Righteous, God-fearing, devout servants of the Lord, but are only such for a couple hours during Worship service.

One such individual was just seen on Facebook with a cigarette in hand hoisting a beer with some buddies after swearing abstinence by faith (SDA).

Another one was caught in a Tumblr pic cheating on his wife. One old church biddy was notorious for spreading rumors and lies about others.

The Word of God was absolute in reference to the Ten Commandments. I personally don’t know how anyone can misinterpret or bend such clear rules as “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultry (Exodus 20:14)”, “You shall not bear false witness against you neighbor (Exodus 20:16)” or any of the other commandments.

Yet these people are in church for every single service dressed to the nines and praying like they’re the most pious to walk this earth.

We all are sinners. I get that.

Whatever happened to asking forgiveness and straightening yourself out? I quit 27 years of smoking, only by His word, yet these people do far more damage with much less remorse. Its pretty sickening.

Daily Devotion, Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 Romans 8:13

For  if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you  put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

God makes it plain and simple for his followers that those who partake in worldly pleasures, sins of the flesh and wrongdoings will die, but those who live by His word and rejecting all that is created by Satan, will not perish, but have eternal life with Jesus.
